another blog is born.

today started out humdrum. so i decided to cheer myself up by skipping down to seattle’s pioneer square in order to visit:

books have always been a great love of mine. my mother blames my near-sightedness on my voracious reading as a child. it wasn’t always that way. in terms of media, my first love was probably the television. why? because i didn’t get know how to read. but once i mastered that skill (go me!) and thanks to some very inspiring elementary school teachers, i became obsessed with the written word, especially in the form of the novel. a riveting tale will shake me from the doldrums any day. the thought that an author, especially the old and dead ones, is reaching out to me, trying to communicate via his or her novel also tickles my fancy.

there’s a lot to be said about books. i could go on all day. but for now suffice to say, they alight my imagination, take me to other worlds, and expand my vocabulary. and if you can get the book from an independent bookstore such as EBB, even better. sounds win-win to me. we’ll discuss blogs on another B day.
